Lovely location and really friendly staff, but the food wasn't as good as I remember it being. Came here since its dog friendly and the terrace is lovely to sit on with this warm weather. We came for breakfast, coffee was alright and there was nothing wrong with the food, but compared to other places over the forest it seemed a bit average. Still worth a visit if you are in the area, especially if you have a dog, but I wouldn't specifically go out of my way to come here.

We stayed here with friends and three very excitable pugs and couldn’t have been made to feel more welcome! The hotel is quirky and comfortable…our room was spotless and the friendly housekeeping staff made sure it stayed that way. One even came to find us at breakfast the first morning to ask whether we’d like another dog bed! We thoroughly enjoyed the breakfast each morning…in fact the food is so good that we dined twice in the evenings too. We were lucky enough to try a few dishes from the new menu and can’t wait to try more. The staff are fabulous, and frequently went out of their way to make sure we were looked after. All in all it was a perfect stay…we have already booked our next one and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it to anyone!

Nice secluded hotel - stayed in one of the shepherds huts. Good amenities and the complimentary gin and tonic was a nice touch. If going as a family I wouldn’t recommend the shepherds huts for children, they are very cosy and if it wasn’t for the weather being so sunny they wouldn’t have had anywhere to run around. There is a lovely green area for the kids to run around in which the bar/restaurant overlooks. We had breakfast in the restaurant in the morning, unfortunately due to only having 1 chef on it took a while for us to get served however when the food came it more than made up for the wait. Overall this is a nice location and the staff are very attentive, this is definitely more suited to couples but we just about managed as a family of 4. Would definitely return here.

Visited spot in the woods for our 10 year anniversary and couldn't have picked a better place. The breakfast and dinner was delicious with plenty of choice and even a great brunch menu. Also had coffee with a slice of caramel and apple pie one afternoon which was amazing. The room we had was very spacious and a very relaxing place to be, especially the large shower and bath that gave the room a luxurious feel. We also had a separate area with seating, tea and coffee facilities, dressing table, wardrobe and safe. The restaurant/bar is very welcoming with a quirky touch, but most importantly the staff create a very comfortable atmosphere with exceptional service. There is also outside seating either on the decking area or benches in the garden. We were constantly asking about recommendations for places to eat for our anniversary and the manager gave us every detail of the local restaurants. Very nice gentleman indeed. I highly recommend a stay here and will certainly be returning ourselves when we want somewhere to stay near the new forest.

We stayed for two nights in the fantastic shepherds hut. The shepherds hut is a great and fun design that has been thought through really well. The beds were super comfy and the shepherds hut was spotlessly clean. The extra touches of an nespresso machine, Netflix and gorgeous toiletries are great and the table and chairs outside were very welcoming. The hotel itself is unique, quirky and stylish and the restaurant is brilliant. All food we had was gorgeous and great quality, every meal was lovely. This is an amazing hotel and the staff are simply brilliant. We received a really warm welcome and everybody we had contact with was lovely and so friendly. The manager was really present which was great to see and was really helpful, friendly and warm. The waiter who I was told was new to the company is literally your dream waiter. He was friendly, really fun and professional too. If you have a dog which we did there really is no better place to stay, they are made to feel very welcome too. We arrived home this afternoon and are already looking at dates to return to this fantastic place.

We had a lovely weekend away at this beautiful hotel with our extended family. Fiona could not do enough for us and offered us a different room when the cabin was a little tight for us with two small children. The children loved it so much so we stayed in the cabin and it was so cute, with clever storage and a real unique rustic experience. I imagine the best experience in one of the cabins would be in the summer as there was a semi private seating area to enjoy a tipple on a summers evening. There was a large shower and everything is done to a high finish. There was also some lovely gifts left for us on arrival. My Grandad's room in the hotel was lovely with a big bathroom including a stand alone bath which he loved. On our second night my Grandad had trouble with the TV and a member of staff went up to his room immediately to sort it out. The food in the restaurant was of high quality and very yummy. We will definitely be returning when we next come to the New Forest, would recommend for couples and families. Thank you Spot in the Woods!

A great place to stay and explore this beautiful area. The hotel is lovely and set in a great location, you really do feel as if you are in the middle of the woods. We stayed in a room but the shepherd huts look really nice. We were lucky and had warm weather and made good use of the veranda for our meals. All the staff were very welcoming and eager to please. We didn’t take our dogs but the hotel is genuinely dog friendly. A large area at the side for dogs to have a run. We intend to return with our dogs. All of the guests who had dogs were very responsible and this shouldn’t put off non dog owning visitors. We are already looking forward to a return visit. Thank you for making our recent Wedding Anniversary celebration special.

Me, my husband and dog Billy have just had a 3 night break in a Shepherds Hut at Spot in the Woods and it was amazing!! It is in a great location for exploring the New Forest and is super dog friendly which we loved. All the staff were so friendly and couldn't do enough for us (especially Ty). The food was excellent, breakfast was incredible and set us up for the day, we can recommend the full English and Bakery on the menu, they even had a dog menu. The Shepherds Hut was perfect and very clean, the dog treats, gin and biscuits were a lovely touch. We really hope we get the chance to stay here again.
